Abstract

The Report of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura is a chronicle of the legal and political-institutional situation of the region in 2019. The main issues analysed in this report are: firstly, the main circumstances surrounding the region's political-institutional activity; secondly, the main lines of its legislative and regulatory activity; and thirdly, its inter-administrative and conflictive relations -essentially with the General State Administration. The Report closes with an examination of some of the socio-economic problems suffered by the region. This year the emphasis has been placed on the on the role of Extremadura as a strategic territory for the ecological transition.

Author Biographies

  • Vicente Álvarez García, University of Extremadura

    European Doctorate in Law from the University of Murcia. Specialist Magistrate for Contentious-Administrative Matters. Magistrate for Contentious-Administrative Matters at the High Court of Justice of Extremadura. He has been a Magistrate in Courts and Tribunals in the Instruction and Prosecution of crimes and in First and Second Instance in civil and contentious-administrative matters. He has worked as a Tutor Professor at the UNED and as an Associate Professor at the Universities of Extremadura and Murcia; he has also been a Professor at the Schools of Legal Practice of the Bar Associations of Badajoz and Murcia. He is the author of numerous publications on administrative, tax and organic judicial law; he has also written several scientific works on civil law, especially on consumer law.

  • Flor Arias Aparicio, University of Extremadura

    Profesora Titular de Derecho Administrativo en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Extremadura. Doctora en Derecho por la Universidad de Córdoba. Estudios realizados en la Universidad de Messina (Italia), en la Manchester Bussiness School (Reino Unido) y en la Universidad de La Sapienza (Italia). Ha sido investigadora en el Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública (INAP) y en el Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Es autora de diversas monografías y estudios, entre los que sobresalen sus trabajos sobre sanidad vegetal, el derecho ambiental y la cooperación transfronteriza.

  • Enrique Hernández Diez, University of Extremadura

    Professor of Administrative Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Extremadura. Doctorate in Law from the University of Extremadura. Studies at the Universities of Paris-X Nanterre (France) and Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain). Research stays at the Universities of Antwerp (Belgium) and South Wales (United Kingdom). He has been president of the Youth Council of Extremadura and vice-president of the Spanish Youth Council. He is the author of several studies on public law, including works on citizen and youth participation, and third sector (volunteering, associations and foundations).
