Cost-benefit analysis of restorative justice versus the traditional criminal justice system in spain

This paper compares the cost-benefit of restorative justice with the traditional Spanish penal system. Through a review of literature and using national data, costs, recidivism, and victim satisfaction are analysed. The results show restorative justice reduces recidivism by up to 40% and costs by more than 70%. Its implementation would bring major savings and social improvements. The conclusion is that it is a viable and recommended alternative in public policy.
